TEXTS AND APPLICATION: These chapters record David’s military victories as he gained control over Israel. More specifically, the record twice indicates in 2 Sam. 8:6, 14 (and repeated twice again in 1 Chron. 18:6, 13) the source of David’s victories:
2 Sam. 8:6 The Lord made David victorious wherever he went
