12/24/18 God with Us

READING: Matthew 1:18-25

“See, the virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name him Immanuel, which is translated ‘God is with us.’”

Matthew 1:23

GOD has come to be with us.

He sent His Son, Jesus, to save us.

Immanuel (“God with us”; Matt. 1:23) is indeed here.

To be honest, these thoughts ought to cause us to marvel. The God who made everything that has been made came to us. He reached out to us in our sin, drew us to Himself, and saved us. For those who genuinely committed to following Christ, nothing has been the same since then.

Indeed, it simply can’t be the same – GOD is with us!

He lives in us through His Spirit. He teaches us through His Word. He hears us through prayer. He encourages us through His people, the Church. He forgives us when we fall. He grants us life moment-by-moment, day-by-day, year-by-year. And, He promises us that He will never us nor forsake us.

The God who is with us will always be with us. Be amazed!

ACTION STEPS:

  • Praise God that He has come to us.
  • Intentionally set aside time today to speak with God in prayer. Don’t let busyness rob you of your time with the Lord.

PRAYER: “Immanuel, thank You for being with us.”

TOMORROW’S READING:  Luke 2:1-20
