08/12/19 His Faithful Love

READING: Psalms 23-26, Romans 4

Who among us would not need to pray these words with the psalmist: “Do not remember the sins of my youth or my acts of rebellion; in keeping with your faithful love, remember me because of your goodness, Lord” (Psa 25:7)? It’s far too easy to look back in distress when we remember our rebellion, our idolatry, and our ingratitude. Were it not, in fact, for the Lord’s “faithful love” and “goodness” toward us (Psa 25:7), we would still be in darkness. Because He is so good, however, He shows us the way.

Indeed, considering God’s deep love for us only magnifies the depth of our sin, as the psalmist noted: “Lord, for the sake of your name, forgive my iniquity, for it is immense” (Psa 25:11). I thank God today that His compassion and faithful love are everlasting despite our sin.

The best response I can make to Him today is to live by His truth, raise my voice in thanksgiving, and tell of His wondrous works (Psa 26:3, 7).

PRAYER: “Lord, I praise You today for Your everlasting love.”
