06/02/20 Slaves to Righteousness

READING: 1 Kings 1, 1 Chronicles 26-28, Romans 6

Slaves to sin. Caught in bondage. Entrapped. That’s who we were before Jesus saved us. Even when we didn’t realize it, we were in a prison cell of rebellion and disobedience.

But, then God stepped into our lives. Unexpectedly and mercifully. Overwhelmingly. He raised us to walk in a new way of live. He freed us from the prison and transformed our hearts.

How, then, could we ever want to return to the sin that once dominated our lives? No disobedience ever brings so much pleasure that it trumps the eternal life that God has graciously given us. With eternity in mind, may we be slaves to righteousness today!

PRAYER: “Lord, all I can do is praise You today.”

TOMORROW’S READING:  1 Kings 2, 1 Chronicles 29, Romans 7
