READING: Psalms 103-104, 1 Corinthians 7:8-40
Today is one of those days when you read the Word—even words that you’ve read before—and still the Bible drives you to your knees. It has an overwhelming power that truly digs into the soul, convicts of sin, and still brings hope. Take some time now, and meditate on these words:
“He will not always accuse,nor will he harbor his anger forever;
he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” (Psa 103:9-12)
There is so much here for us to consider. God would be right to treat us as we deserve as sinners, but He chooses not to do so on the basis of His Son’s death in our place. God does not repay us according to our sin—a truth for which we must be grateful. His love for those who fear Him is beyond our comprehension; it’s as high as the heavens. He separates us from our sin the immeasurable distance of, “as far as the east is from the west.” Indeed, He remembers our sin no more (Isa 43:25).
I’m guilty, but God forgives me. That’s a message of incredible love that I fear we too often take for granted.
PRAYER: “God, I praise You for Your great, forgiving love. You’re amazing.”
