READING: Job 25-28, Acts 22:22-23:22
God has a way of encouraging us at just the right time to press on. Sometimes it’s a verse in our daily devotion. At other times, it’s a phone call from another believer, a comforting word in a Christian book, or a point in a sermon. However it might happen, God knows just what we need.
Paul knew that truth experientially. More than once at a pivotal point in Paul’s ministry, God sent him a vision to encourage him and guide him (Acts 16:9-10, 18:9-10; 27:23-25). In today’s New Testament reading, Paul sees a vision that confirms he will make it to Rome, where he will be a witness again for Christ. Having faced painful scourging and unruly crowds, he needed affirmation he would survive in Jerusalem and make his way to Rome, the city he had wanted to visit (Acts 19:21). God would get him there, even when it might have seemed otherwise.
Today, I am grateful the Lord loves me enough to encourage me – however He wishes, at whatever time He knows is best.
PRAYER: “God, I ask You to encourage me today. Help me not to miss what You are doing.”
DAILY ACTION STEP: Watch for God’s gift of encouragement today.
