READING: Psalms 108-110
TEXTS AND APPLICATION: All of these psalms are attributed to David. What most captures my attention today is the focus on God’s faithful love. Just the words cause me to pause with gratitude; when I consider how faithful His love has been to me even when I’ve wandered, I can only stand amazed. Kneel in amazement, actually. I can only pray that He will deal kindly with me for His name’s sake.
Psa. 108:4 For Your faithful love is higher than the heavens, and Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Psa. 109:21 But You, Yahweh my Lord, deal kindly with me because of Your name; deliver me because of the goodness of Your faithful love.
Psa. 109:26-27 Help me, Lord my God; save me according to Your faithful love
27 so they may know that this is Your hand and that You, Lord, have done it.
PRAYER: Let’s pray that we will captured by the wonder of God’s faithful love. His love far outlasts our faithfulness.

As I read through the scriptures, I think often of the dramatic, radical faith of the early believers. Then, I spend a lot of time in churches in North America whose faith, frankly, seems weak. I wonder if the early church might ask us these questions today.
