READING: Psalm 134, 146-150
TEXTS AND APPLICATION: All of these psalms are praise songs. They are simple — filled with reasons to praise Him, to “lift up [our] hands in the holy place and praise the Lord" (Psalm 134:2). A sampling of these reasons ought to be enough to drive us to praise Him today.
Our response is simple: Let everything that breathes praise the Lord. Hallelujah (Psalm 150:6). I read these psalms, and I hear singing. In fact, the psalmist says, “I will sing to the Lord as long as I live” (Psalm 146:2) and “How good it is to sing to our God, for praise is pleasant and lovely” (Psalm 147:1). As I think about these words, I realize I don’t sing God’s praises enough. I fail to sing when I get distracted by busyness, and I tend to limit much of my singing to corporate gatherings. I miss the blessing of singing to my God.
PRAYER: Pray that I will sing more.
