READING: Daniel 10-12
TEXTS AND APPLICATION: Because of my interest in spiritual warfare, I have spent much time in Daniel 10 examining the nature of the “prince of Persia” and the “prince of Greece.” This chapter takes us behind the scenes into the heavenly nature of the spiritual battle, and it leaves us (or at least, me) pondering things beyond our view.
Then, chapter 11 has some of the most detailed prophecies in the Bible. Trying to read through each verse, understand its application, and then place it in history is a tedious task indeed. The verses in chapters 11 and 12 that may point to the future Antichrist are equally challenging. So, frankly, the final words to Daniel in this book are a rather comforting way to end this book:
Dan. 12:13 “But as for you, go on your way to the end; you will rest, then rise to your destiny at the end of the days.”
Loosely paraphrased, this final word is, "Just live your life and do your work. Serve until your death, and trust in the reality of resurrection at the end of time.” When I can’t figure out all the details of the last days and the future Kingdom of the Lord, these words make a lot of sense to me.
PRAYER: “God, teach me from Your Word, including those parts of the Word that are difficult to understand. But, when I don’t know it all, give me faith to trust the Words that are so clear. Let me walk with You every day and trust You with the tomorrows.”
