I am struck today by these truths for preachers:
- Today, I held in my hand the entire Bible in my language — not just portions of it, as some folks in the world have. In fact, even a portion is more than billions of people have.
- Today, I spoke to many people who also had Bibles in their hands. Many, if not most of them, have more Bibles in their homes than they have human beings.
- Today, people showed up to hear me preach. They didn’t have to do that.
- Today, God allowed me to speak His Word. Me. A sinner. Surely there are better people for God to use.
- Today, God worked through His Spirit and His Word to overcome my frailties and inadequacies. I’m really glad He does that.
- Today, I spoke the Word of God without fear of threat or persecution. That may not always be the case, but today it was.
- Today, I need to be more grateful. I take this privilege for granted far too much.
