READING: Jude, 2 Peter 1-3
“. . . to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time, now and forever.”
Jude 25
God is worthy of all our praise. We could praise Him for centuries on end, and still our praise would not exhaust His worth. Hardly can we put into words His glory.
Jude’s doxology that closes his letter, on the other hand, surely points to the magnificence of God: “Now to him who is able to protect you from stumbling and to make you stand in the presence of his glory, without blemish and with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time, now and forever” (Jude 24-25). The God we serve guards us from falling, and it is only through His grace that any of us can stand before Him “without blemish and with great joy.” He is the one who always has been, and the one who will reign forever. To Him we must give honor.
Others may scoff at Him. Some will reject Him. False teachers who deny His teachings will rise up. Still, though, He will protect His own unto eternal life. Our confidence rests not in our ability to follow Him, but in His willingness to guard us in His love. I say it again: He is worthy of all our praise.
