READING: Psalms 91-96, 1 Corinthians 4:6-5:13
Psalm 92 is a celebration of the Sabbath, a day of rest, worship, and focus for the Hebrews. Even more than that, though, this song is a cry that honors the Lord for who He is and what He’s done. The first verses of the psalm, in fact, echo with praise and thanksgiving: “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praise to your name, Most High, to declare your faithful love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, with a ten-stringed harp and the music of a lyre” (Psa 92:1-3).
As we prepare to attend our local church tomorrow, I’m reminded that I need to go in the right mindset. I need to go excited about praising God in song and conversations, being ever aware of His faithfulness throughout every day. Indeed, this reminder that it’s right to sing God’s praises and thank Him is one I need to remember every day—not just on the day of worship. I suspect that I would respond differently to life’s battles if I always focused on thanksgiving and praise.
My prayer today is that all of us will sing God’s praises loudly with thanksgiving as we worship with His people this weekend.
PRAYER: “God, thank You for Your faithful love in the morning and Your faithfulness at night.”
