READING: Psalms 97-102, 1 Corinthians 6:1-7:7
I write today with a burden on my heart. I have the privilege of working with seminary students and international missionaries who love the world and want them to know about Jesus. I’ve met with young parents who are taking their families to some dangerous places—but they do so because they share the burden of God for the nations. As I read today’s Old Testament reading, I’m reminded of God’s rule over the nations:
- “The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice.. . . The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all peoples see his glory.” (Psa 97:1, 6)
- “The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations.. . . all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music.” (Psa 98:2-4)
- “The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations. Let them praise your great and awesome name—he is holy.” (Psa 99:1-3)
- “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.” (Psa 100:1)
- “The nations will fear the name of the Lord, all the kings of the earth will revere your glory.” (Psa 102:15)
As I read these words, I cannot help but wonder what else I might do to help get the gospel to the nations. I do not want to get comfortable as long as billions of people still have no access to the good news. Please pray for me and Pam.
PRAYER: “Lord, I want to be part of Your work in spreading Your glory to the nations. Help me to know the best way to do so.”
