02/27/20 Jesus’ Intercession for Us

READING: Leviticus 19-20, Hebrews 7

Today, I’m thinking of words I’ve heard or read that gave me hope. I remember the professor who said, “I’ll be sure to use a curve when I finalize your grades” after he saw how poorly the entire class did on the exam. Or, Pam’s agreeing to go out with me on our first date many years ago. Or, the loan officer’s assuring us that the loan for our first home together would be approved. Or, the doctor’s written word that the cancer was quite small and not a deep concern.

All of these words gave me hope, but none of them have given me hope like these words in today’s reading: “Therefore, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, since he always lives to intercede for them” (Heb 7:25). Jesus has saved us, and He saves us fully and forever; in fact, he brings all our requests and needs to the Father. He continually intercedes for us, and we can trust the power of His intercession.

That’s why this text gives me such real hope. The Son of God prays for me—and that’s all I need to know, no matter what I face today.

PRAYER: “Thank You, Jesus, for interceding for us.”
