READING: Proverbs 3-5, Romans 10
The process is really simple. People need to believe in Jesus and call on Him personally in order to be saved. They can’t believe in Him, though, if they’ve never even heard about Him. And, they won’t hear about Him unless someone comes to preach the message to them – and how does that happen unless God sends someone to preach? Indeed, the feet of those who preach the Word are beautiful – not because they themselves are so beautiful, but because the message they bring is so glorious.
I fear, though, that many of us have reached some dangerous conclusions: (1) only “preachers” are called to proclaim the message, and (2) most people who live around us have heard the message. When we land at either one of these faulty positions, most believers are “let off the hook” for doing evangelism (at least in their own minds). All of God’s followers, however, are to make disciples of others, and it’s simply not the case that most folks around us have truly heard a biblical gospel presentation.
All of us must proclaim the Word to others. There is too much at stake to not do so – so, may God help each of us today to tell somebody about Jesus.
PRAYER: “Help me, Lord, to speak of Jesus to a non-believer today.”
