READING: Jeremiah 5-7, Psalm 75, 2 Corinthians 10
Imagine a people group somewhere in the world who has never heard of Jesus. They’re religious, but they follow a false god. They think in terms of eternity, yet they don’t follow the one true God. They can’t, because they don’t know the One who is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Day after day after, members of that people die without knowing God – and they face eternal judgment.
But, then God sends someone—perhaps you, or perhaps me—to introduce them to Jesus. In the mysterious plan of God, He chooses to use somebody to be the first to share the gospel with that people group. We then are privileged to take the good news of Christ to a people, and through their witness even extend our gospel reach. We get to proclaim Christ to “the regions beyond” (2 Cor 10:16)—in Paul’s terms, to places where Christ had not yet been named (Rom 15:20). Just as God used Paul to plant the Corinthian congregation, He uses us.
No matter how much the Lord uses us, though, the story is never about us. Any victory we have, any soul we see saved, any disciple we help lead, any family that’s restored, etc., happens because of the Lord. In Him alone can we boast.
PRAYER: “God, I boast in You. You have humbled me by Your willingness to use me.”
