READING: 1 Kings 3-5, John 4:1-45
Twice in today’s Old Testament reading, the text says that God appeared to Solomon in a dream. His divine communication was clear, and the recorded conversation reflects the relational nature of the God of the Bible. God both spoke to Solomon and listened to his response with affirmation. How different that was from the Canaanites who spoke to false gods who could neither hear nor respond!
While missionaries and others tell stories of God’s appearing to Muslims via dreams to direct them to the gospel, that’s clearly not the norm today; on the other hand, God does communicate with us through His Word, His Spirit, and His people. From the first, “Then God said” in Genesis 1:3 to the final, “Yes, I am coming soon” in Revelation 22:20, the Bible invites us to listen to God’s voice.
Yesterday, I spent the day with missions leaders—so, today, I grieve and pray for billions around the world who have no access to God’s Word. I invite you to join me in praying!
PRAYER: “God, use me however You wish so others will hear Your voice.”
DAILY ACTION STEP: Pray for an unreached people group today.
