READING: 1 Chronicles 7, John 16:5-33
Living faithfully as a Christian is not easy in a messed-up world. Many cultural standards are in direct opposition to the Word of God. Because broad is the way that leads to destruction (Matt 7:13), most people have no interest in the gospel. Persecution of believers is a reality in some parts of the world. Temptation abounds, no matter where we live. Meanwhile, even believers sometimes argue among ourselves, and the church isn’t always the light we’re called to be. Standing up for righteousness simply isn’t easy.
On the other hand, Jesus has already overcome the world! He conquered the world and its ways by His death and resurrection; He walked perfectly in the world that He might ultimately break the enemy’s hold over that world. Nothing the world offered Him ever turned His attention from His Father, and He reigns victoriously today. In Him, we find our courage to stand strong in the midst of sinful chaos.
PRAYER: “Jesus, give me victory over the world.”
DAILY ACTION STEP: If you fear anything today, remember that Jesus has already overcome.
