READING: 2 Chronicles 1-5, Acts 2:42-3:10
The early church was filled with awe over God and His work. When they worshipped, God sometimes made Himself known through signs and wonders, and I can just imagine what kinds of things these early believers saw. Healings. Exorcisms. Resurrection. Answered prayers—like the healing of the lame man that resulted in believers “filled with awe and astonishment at what had happened to him” (Acts 3:10). It’s likely the believers saw more miracles than directly recorded in the book of Acts, in fact.
I trust, though, they were also filled with wonder as God added new believers to their church daily. On and on, day after day, week after week, God continued to draw non-believers to Himself as the young church proclaimed the gospel throughout the city. Daily, they saw the joy of forgiveness, the peace of restoration, and the power of transformation. That, too, is astonishing! I pray the Lord would grant us even a glimpse of that power.
PRAYER: “God, hear our prayer. Add to our churches daily.”
DAILY ACTION STEP: Daily pray this prayer for your church throughout this week.
