The Glory of Creation
Psalms 19-22, Romans 2:1-3:8
A friend and I both have telescopes we use to look into the night sky. His scope is much more powerful than mine, however, so he sees more than I typically do. In fact, he recently sent me a picture of what he believes is a ring nebula, which is glowing gas thrown off a star. He sent me the picture with great excitement, and I suspect the picture doesn’t do justice for what he saw.
I must admit I just stared in wonder at this picture and others he sent me. It’s quite phenomenal to see the beauty, the majesty, the colors God has put into a creation that brings glory to His name. Even this week, astronomers are talking about a meteor shower that should light up the night sky. So, I join the psalmist today in saying, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of his hands” (Psa 19:1).
That same God, though, speaks to us through His Word that is perfect, trustworthy, right, radiant, pure, reliable, more desirable than gold, and sweeter than honey from a honeycomb. God made all of creation, and still He communicates with us as His children. It’s all amazing.
PRAYER: “God, I see Your glory in creation. I praise You.”
DAILY ACTION STEP: Slow down enough today to see God’s creation.
