READING: Psalm 120-128, 1 Corinthians 14:1-25
Apparently, the enemies of God’s people had risen against them. We don’t know the exact situation, but we do know the Hebrews would have been defeated if God had not been with them: “If the Lord had not been on our side—let Israel say—if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us, then they would have swallowed us alive in their burning anger against us” (Psa 124:1-3). Were it not for God’s protection, the waters of trouble would have overtaken His people.
But, God WAS on their side . . . the One who was the “Maker of heaven and earth” and the “Protector of Israel” (Psa 121:2, 4) . . . the One “enthroned in heaven” (Psa 123:1) . . . the One who does great things for His people (Psa 126:3).
If the Lord had not been on our side, all of us would still be separated from our Creator, destined for eternal hell. He WAS on our side, though, when He worked His plan to bring redemption through His Son.
I am most grateful. Blessed be the Lord!
PRAYER: “God, thank You for being on our side.”
