READING: Isaiah 61-66, 1 Thessalonians 5
“Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
That’s Paul’s word to believers in 1 Thessalonians 5:18. Be thankful. In everything.
In everything. That’s God’s will for us.
There have been times, if I’m honest, when I haven’t always been thankful. I haven’t always understood what God was doing, and I grew frustrated when He didn’t respond as I wished. I struggled with gratitude when life unexpectedly became difficult. Unkind church folks have sometimes tested my thankfulness. Worry has robbed me of peace when I should have been grateful.
Now, though, I’m regularly reminded that God has a plan even when I don’t see it or comprehend it. And, His plan is always, always, always right. That plan is, without exception, for His glory and my good. When I remember that truth, gratitude in everything is much easier.
PRAYER: “God, teach me thankfulness in everything.”
DAILY ACTION STEP: Thank God today, no matter what you face.
