READING: Jeremiah 39-43, Hebrews 3:1-4:13
It’s one of the those truths we intuitively know yet rebelliously ignore. The Word of God penetrates us to the core of our being, and nothing is hidden from the eyes of God. Indeed, everything is “exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give an account” (Heb 4:13). The Word has a way of slicing us to the depths of our soul—which means our attempts to hide our sin are thoroughly useless. Everything in our lives – including every evil intent, every arrogant thought, every angry word under our breath – ultimately finds itself under the spotlight of the all-knowing, all-seeing God.
Excuses don’t work. Rationalizations have no credibility. Blame carries no weight. Explanations lack validity. Pretense meets its end in the Word of God and the work of the Spirit in us – and we must not disregard the truth that God sees all things. We ignore this teaching to our peril, as we will give account to the One who has the right to hold us accountable. His judgment will always be right because we can hide nothing from Him.
The solution? Confess secret sin. Turn from wrong. Walk in godliness. Obey God, praying that what He sees in you is loving commitment and uncompromised following.
PRAYER: “Father, remind me today that I can hide nothing from You.”
DAILY ACTION STEP: Confess any “hiddenness” in your life today.
