12/21/21 Seek the Lord

READING: Amos 1-5, Revelation 8-9

Yesterday’s devotion began with these same words: judgment was coming to the people of God. In this case, Amos was the prophet who told God’s rebellious people that He would bring wrath upon them for their wrong. They had ignored His commands and rejected His prophets—and now, destruction would come. God would crush them in judgment.

In fact, no one would avoid that judgment. The fastest runner could not outrun it. The strongest person would not overpower it. Even the best trained and most courageous warrior would not be able to save his own life under the attacks of enemy forces. All would try to run, but none would ultimately escape. Judgment was sure.

Our situation is different from the Hebrews in Amos’ day, but the principle remains the same: no one will escape—regardless of training, strength, courage, etc.—when God brings judgment. Our answer? Seek the Lord today, trusting Him to guard those who turn to Him in repentance and faith. He has declared this responsibility.

PRAYER: “Father, remind us about the repercussion of our sin.”

DAILY ACTION STEP: Seek the Lord.

TOMORROW’S READING: Amos 6-9, Obadiah; Revelation 10-11
