READING: Exodus 10:1-12:51
As I write this devotion, I’m still excited about meeting Jameson yesterday. Jameson is a newborn for whom we prayed months before he was born, and the Lord graciously has blessed the little guy with life and health. Seeing him in “Aunt Pam’s” arms and then holding him in mine brought me great joy.
I think about Jameson when I read that God did what He did among the Egyptians so they and the Hebrews would know that He is the Lord—and that the Hebrews could tell their children and grandchildren what God had done. God’s plan was that godly parents and grandparents would pass down their faith through telling the stories of God’s power and His miraculous provision for His people. Generation after generation would hear the stories and commemorate them through rituals God would give them.
Most of us, whether we have our own children and grandchildren, have opportunity to tell next generations about God’s goodness and blessing. Should we choose not to tell them, our silence not only robs us of the blessing of obedience, but it also robs the next generations of stories that can change their lives. I want to tell the stories because I want Jameson’s generation to know Jesus!
PERSONAL REFLECTION: What opportunities do you have to influence children and grandchildren?
TODAY’S PRAYER: “Lord, help me not to miss the opportunities You give me to tell others of Your goodness and power.”
TOMORROW’S READING: Exodus 13:1-15:27
