God saved me and made me His child on August 18, 1974. While I have at times struggled with complete surrender over the years, I have never doubted that God did something in my life on that Sunday—the first Sunday I had ever attended church in my life.
This week, I stumbled upon this website that allows you to measure days between dates or create “countdowns” before upcoming events. When I looked at it yesterday, here’s what I learned from that site.
As of yesterday, . . .
- 1,500,592,754 seconds (that is, 1.5 billion seconds) have passed since the day God saved me
- 25,009,879 minutes (25 million+ minutes) have gone by
- 416,831 hours have passed
- 17,369 days have been completed
- 2,481 weeks have gone by
- 570 months have passed
- 47 years, 6 months, and 18 days have been completed
Looking back across all these seconds . . . and minutes . . . and hours . . . and days . . . and weeks . . . and months . . . and years that have gone by since God saved me, I can say with the confidence of the psalmist, “I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous abandoned or his children begging for bread” (Psa 37:25).
God has never let go of me or let me down. Never.
Not for a minute.
Not even for a second.
How can I do anything but just praise Him today?
