READING: 1 Samuel 22:1-2, Psalm 57, Psalm 142, 1 Chronicles 12:8-18, 1 Samuel 22:3-23, Psalm 52, 1 Samuel 23:1-12
We’ve heard this refrain from the psalmist before. Singing when you’re on the mountain is easy—and often fun—to do. I can think of several times over the years when God made Himself known in unique ways, resolved an issue I was facing, and gave me a song I almost could not keep to myself. I don’t sing publicly in front of people, but I love lifting God’s praise in those times.
It’s not always as easy to sing when we’re facing a difficult time. Psalm 57 is likely David’s word when he found himself fleeing to escape Saul (1 Sam 22:1-2, or perhaps 24:1). He faced real danger, so he cried out to the Lord for mercy and protection. His lament over his situation, though, is followed by his praise and thanksgiving for God’s care. His response? It was to sing so even the nations would hear His praises and all the earth would see God’s glory:
- “My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing your praises!” (Psa 57:7)
- “I will wake the dawn with my song.” (Psa 57:8)
- “I will sing your praises among the nations.” (Psa 57:9)
Today, David’s deliverer God is our deliverer, too. We have much reason to sing—even if we find ourselves in a tough situation right now. God is still God, and He is worthy of our praise.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: How much do you want the nations to know God?
TODAY’S PRAYER: “Father, I praise You for Your care in even the most difficult circumstances. Help me to sing today no matter what I face.”
TOMORROW’S READING: 1 Samuel 23:13-25:44, Psalm 54
Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you. https://www.binance.com/fr/register?ref=GJY4VW8W
