05/01/22 Our Amazing God

READING: 2 Samuel 22:1-51, Psalm 18

Sometimes the phrases of the Scripture grab your attention, melt your heart, and bring you to humility—particularly when these phrases describe who God is. Via the repetition of these readings today, we are reminded of who God is. He is our strength, our rock, our fortress, our savior, our God, and our shield. He is the power that saves, our place of safety. He rescues us, restores us, rewards us, arms us with strength, supports us, and keeps us from slipping. He gives great victories and showers us with His unfailing love. He lights up our darkness, hears our prayers, makes us as surefooted as a deer, and shows Himself faithful.

On this Lord’s day, how can we not simply echo the psalmist with these words?

  • “The Lord lives! Praise to my Rock! May the God of my salvation be exalted!” (Psa 18:46)
  • “I will praise you among the nations; I will sing praises to your name.” (Psa 18:49)

May His name be magnified today! Amen.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: Have you turned your heart to meditate on God’s greatness today?

TODAY’S PRAYER: “Father, I will indeed praise You among the nations.”
