06/25/22 My Strength, My Salvation, My Song

READING: Isaiah 8:1-11:16

Yesterday’s devotion dealt with judgment, but today’s devotion is about something distinctly different: singing. We do indeed face God’s discipline when we continually sin against Him, but His grace and mercy ultimately overwhelm us as we look forward to the day when we will be with the Lord forever. In that day, our hearts will erupt in song, almost as if the joy of our soul is so great that we can’t keep the music in us. That’s just what redeemed hearts do; that’s just what falls from the lips of the saved.

Isaiah reminds us of such when he writes about that day. Don’t miss his focus on singing in his words of Isaiah 12, as it is often in song we make His name known:

  • “Indeed, God is my salvation; I will trust him and not be afraid, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my song. He has become my salvation.” (Isa 12:2)
  • “Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things. Let this be known throughout the earth.” (Isa 12:5)
  • “Cry out and sing, citizen of Zion, for the Holy One of Israel is among you in his greatness.” (Isa 12:6)

What I think about today, though, is the truth that we need not wait to sing this song. No matter what we face today, the Lord is our strength and our salvation. That’s worth singing about; in fact, He is our song! I’ve spent this morning listening to this Keith and Kristyn Getty song, “The Lord is My Salvation”—and I hope it’s a blessing to you today as you prepare your heart for corporate worship this weekend.

PERSONAL REFLECTION:  Are you ready to sing His praises today?

DAILY PRAYER: “God, let Your song echo in my heart and words today. You are my strength, my salvation, and my song.”

TOMORROW’S READING: Hosea 2:14-8:14
