07/08/22 Shout to the Lord

READING: Psalms 98-100, 102, 104

Today, I’m just going to let the Word speak more than I do (which is always best, anyway). As I read Psalm 98, I am captured by several phrases. We are to sing a new song this day because:

  • God “has performed wonders” (Psa 98:1)
  • He “has made his victory known” (Psa 98:2)
  • He “has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations” (Psa 98:2)
  • He “has remembered his love and faithfulness” (Psa 98:3)

Here’s the point: our God is a God of action who reveals His love for us not only by who He is, but also by what He does. In this psalm, He performed, made, revealed, and remembered. In all His actions is evidence of who He is: wonderful, victorious, righteous, loving, faithful. Who He is and what He does go hand-in-hand—and our proper response is to “shout triumphantly in the presence of the Lord, our King” (Psa 98:6).

No matter what you and I might face today, how can we not join the earth in shouting to the Lord? How can we not sing? (And, if you need help singing today, maybe “Shout to the Lord” will help you).

PERSONAL REFLECTION: Are you shouting to the Lord today?

DAILY PRAYER: “Thank You, Lord, for victory in You today.”

TOMORROW’S READING: Psalms 105-106
