READING: Isaiah 44:6-48:11
Whenever I teach my spiritual warfare class, I recurrently remind the students, “The Bible is not a book about the devil; it’s a book about God.” I do not want them to give the enemy more attention than the Bible does in the first place. What I instead want them to do is keep their eyes on the Lord while they are learning about the enemy.
Today’s reading reminds us over and over again that this story is about God. Glance through the chapters again, and watch for attention given to God alone. He is the one who formed us, chose His people, poured water on thirsty land, and poured out His Spirit on us. He is the first and the last, the rock on which we stand. He made everything and rules over everything. He never forgets His people.
And, as Isaiah tells us more than once, God is God, and there is no one like Him. Period.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: How often do you meditate on the truth that there is no one like our God? Maybe listening to this praise chorus will help you do that today.
DAILY PRAYER: “Father, I shout with joy today that You alone are God.”
