READING: Mark 1:1, Luke 1:1-4, John 1:1-18, Matthew 1:1-17, Luke 3:23-38, Luke 1:5-38
The gospel is just that: good news. And, it’s not good news about just anyone; it’s about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He has always been, and apart from Him was not one thing created “that has been created” (John 1:3). John the Baptist pointed toward Him, and Mary gave birth to Him. He is the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan, the light in the darkness who chose to dwell among us. Eyewitnesses lived around Him, and gospel writers recorded His story. Through Him, we can be the children of God.
There’s enough in that previous paragraph that we must just stop and thank God for the simple truth of the good news today. We don’t have to overcomplicate it; we simply have to marvel at it and believe it. It’s all quite amazing.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Will you set aside time today to meditate on the gospel?
DAILY PRAYER: “God, I am amazed by the story. I praise You.”
