In my devotions this week, I read again the story of Daniel. This faithful man of God prayed three times a day, even after the king forbade anyone to petition any god other than the king (Dan 6). Like the psalmist who prayed morning, noon, and night when he sought God’s help (Psa 55:17), Daniel prioritized regular prayer. Beginning this coming Sunday, I am challenging myself – and you as my reader – to pray in a similar way, but with a particular focus on evangelism.
Here’s the plan I call the 3-3-3 plan: pray 3 times each day for 3 minutes each time, focusing on praying for the conversion of 3 non-believers throughout the week. My plan is to pray morning, noon, and night. Nine minutes a day might not seem like much, but it’s more than many believers pray for the salvation of others.
Here are some ways you might pray throughout the week:
- That you will be a good witness before the three non-believers
- That you (and others) will speak the gospel to them boldly and clearly (Eph 6:19-20, Col 4:3-4)
- That they will be open to the gospel
- That God will remove anything that keeps them blinded to the gospel (2 Cor 4:3-4)
- That God will transfer them from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of His Son (Col 1:13)
- That God will free them from the power of Satan (Acts 26:18)
- That they will realize the folly of serving false gods and ignoring the true God
- That they will find no peace or glee in their non-believing living
- That the Spirit will convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8-11)
- That they would not allow peer pressure (or anything else) to keep them following Christ
- That they would turn from their sin and trust Christ
- That they would know the magnificent love and grace of God
- That they would be strong witnesses when they get saved, too
- That you will keep believing even if their response is delayed
Pray next week. Three times each day. For three minutes. For three non-believers by name. That’s the 3-3-3 plan.
