READING: Acts 24:1-26:32
The apostle Paul pressed King Agrippa to consider becoming a Christian. Not only does this evangelistic encounter fulfill Acts 9:15—”this man is my chosen instrument to take my name to Gentiles, kings, and Israelites”—but it also lets us into the heart of Paul. Indeed, it challenges us to consider our own hearts a bit.
Agrippa’s response to Paul’s challenge was essentially, “Would you want to persuade me to follow Christ so quickly? In such a short time should I become a Christian?” Paul’s response paraphrased was, “Whether it takes me a short time or a long time to convince you, whether it’s easy or hard, I wish that you, King, and all those listening would become a Christian like I am.” Paul didn’t care how much effort or time it took to lead others to Christ; he simply wanted them to know Jesus.
I need to remember those thoughts when I get impatient because God has not yet saved people for whom I’ve been praying. The timing doesn’t matter once God answers our prayers.
