READING: 2 Timothy 4:19-22, Hebrews 1:1-4:13
The first four verses of the book of Hebrews are actually one long sentence in Greek. That might sound like the phrase just runs on, but it’s actually packed with truth that is especially important this time of year. Throughout His relationship with His people, God had spoken truth to them through the prophets who spoke in His name. He did that in different ways in different times, but always He showed Himself to be a God of relationship and revelation.
Now, though, God had spoken in a most unique and unexpected way: He had come in Jesus—and Jesus wasn’t just anybody. He was/is God’s Son who is the Creator of all things, the sustainer of all things, and the heir of all things. He is fully God, making God’s glory known to the world. He paid the penalty for sin so we might be forgiven and clean, and now He is seated at the right hand of the Father. He who now intercedes for us (Heb 7:25) has completed the work of salvation. And, He is greater than all the angels.
He is worthy of our worship this Christmas season!
