READING: Hebrews 4:14-7:28
Some days you just need to hear from the Lord. Life gets busy . . . and overwhelming . . . and painful. Few things others say to us relieve us of our burdens, no matter how hard they may try. We need to hear another voice.
That voice is clear in today’s reading. Our high priest, Jesus, knows our every weakness. He has been tempted in every way we are (so, He has borne the fullest brunt of temptation), but without ever sinning. He sympathizes with us—that is, He suffers alongside us with compassion—while inviting us to His throne of mercy and grace. In fact, He calls us to come to Him boldly, our knowing that He has broken down every barrier that precludes our turning to Him.
More specifically, He helps us in our “time of need” (Heb 4:16), a phrase which actually means He provides “well-timed help.” He knows exactly what we need, exactly when we need it, and exactly how to meet it. That’s a good word on this Lord’s Day!
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Do you need to run to Jesus today in boldness?
DAILY PRAYER: “Jesus, I need You. Thank You for welcoming me at Your throne.”
