12/19/22 Meeting Together

READING: Hebrews 8:1-10:39

Occasionally I meet self-professed Christians who have decided not to be part of a church. Sometimes they’re just anti-institution in general. In other cases, they’ve been hurt by church people in the past and have no interest in engaging again. Others simply never got connected when they turned to Christ. Whatever their reasons are, all these folks miss something essential in the Christian walk.

The writer of Hebrews, in fact, reminds us of the importance of being among other believers. From believers we get encouragement and challenge to be faithful to Christ. They provoke us to show love to others and do good works for God’s glory. They join us in meeting together, reminding us that we’re not alone in the Christian journey. We need them, and they need us.

I trust you experienced growth through worshiping with a congregation this past weekend. If not, I challenge you to find that group of believers who will strengthen you.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: Are you invested in a local church?

DAILY PRAYER: “God, thank You for those church members who encourage me. Help me to encourage others.”

TOMORROW’S READING: Hebrews 11:1-12:29
