These words of my friend, Thom Rainer, challenge me to pray:
Perhaps your church has been struggling. Maybe you know change needs to take place, but you are not entirely certain what the nature of the change needs to be.
You need to pray for God’s wisdom.
You are facing the likelihood of critics and naysayers. You have felt the barbs of their words before. They have caused you to retreat. You can’t retreat this time.
You need to pray for God’s courage.
Leading change in the church is impossible in your own power. It can be both redundant and exhausting. There will be days where you will wonder if it’s worth it. You will be worn out.
You need to pray for God’s strength.
