READING: Joshua 13-17
Caleb and Joshua were the only spies who believed that God wanted His people to take the Promised Land decades earlier. Now, at age 85 but still exhibiting the Lord’s strength, Caleb was ready to take his land inheritance.
What’s amazing to me is that he specifically requested the land where the giants were! He was in his eighties, and still he was ready to go to war in the power of God. Caleb had been faithful to God all these years, but more importantly, God had always been faithful to Caleb — and the older man knew he could trust God again.
I’m 62 years old. I’m doing well now, but I sure hope I’m equally faithful and trusting at age 85 as Caleb was if the Lord allows me to live that long. I pray I’ll be seeking to take mountains and drive out the enemy no matter how old I might be. If it happens, though, it will be because of God’s grace; my role is to trust and follow Him.
