In my book, Lord, Teach Us Pastors to Pray, I spend some time dealing with time management–primarily because too many of us waste time that we could be using for God. Among other things, here’s one strategy that’s proven helpful to me:
Use the telephone to talk to people. We spend too many hours clarifying emails or texts, explaining our words, or denying perceived emotions behind a message. Most of the time, a simple phone call would have saved time. Plus, it’s just better to do ministry using our actual voices, in my opinion. Texts, emails, and instant messages are fine, but there’s just something powerful about hearing someone’s voice.
