04/25/23 Prayer Guidance

READING: 1 Kings 7-8

Today’s reading includes Solomon’s significant prayer at the dedication of the Temple. Using that text, I encourage you to pray today by not only taking your needs to God, but also by quoting the verses below as you pray. The original prayer applied to one contextual situation, but let the text can help you pray today:

  • “Lord God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below, who keeps the gracious covenant with your servants who walk before you with all their heart.”
  • “Listen to your servant’s prayer and his petition, Lord my God, so that you may hear the cry and the prayerthat your servant prays before you today. . . .”
  • “May you hear in your dwelling place in heaven. May you hear and forgive . . . . May you hear in heavenand forgive the sin of your people. . . . May you forgive your people who sinned against you and all their rebellions against you.”
  • “May your eyes be open to your servant’s petition and to the petition of your people Israel, listening to them whenever they call to you.”

Pray on today, trusting the Lord to hear you!
