05/18/23 Speak of Him

READING: 1 Chronicles 14-18

As I read King David’s prayer of thanksgiving in today’s reading, I’m reminded again of our call to tell others about Christ. Indeed, this prayer echoes with words that emphasize verbal proclamation:

  • proclaim his deeds among the peoples” (1 Chron 16:8)
  • tell of all his wondrous works” (1 Chron 16:9)
  • Boast in his holy name” (1 Chron 16:10)
  • Proclaim his salvation from day to day” (1 Chron 16:23)
  • Declare his glory among the nations” (1 Chron 16:24)
  • Ascribe to the Lord, families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength” (1 Chron 16:28)
  • Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever” (1 Chron 16:34)

So it must be with us today. We who have been gloriously saved have reason to tell others about Jesus. It ought to be, in fact, that we cannot stop talking about Him.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: When was the last time you shared the gospel with someone?

DAILY PRAYER: “God, help me to speak of You today!”

TOMORROW’S READING: 1 Chronicles 19-23
