READING: 1 Chronicles 24-28
Sometimes we just need the repetition of the Lord’s word as we begin a new work week. In today’s reading, I’m reminded of the words of David as he tasked his son, Solomon, with building the temple:
- “Realize now that the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong, and do it.” (1 Chron 28:10, emphasis added)
- “Be strong and courageous, and do the work” (1 Chron 28:20)
- “Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you” (1 Chron 28:20)
- “He won’t leave you or abandon you until all the work for the service of the Lord’s house is finished” (1 Chron 28:20)
As you and I do the Lord’s work this week, here’s what we know: God is with us. Living in that truth should give us strength, courage, tenacity, and trust. No matter what we face, He will be with us to accomplish whatever He wishes to do in us and through us. May the Lord bring these truths to mind as often as we need them this week.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Are you facing any situations this week that especially demand trust?
DAILY PRAYER: “Father, help me to be strong and courageous today.”
TOMORROW’S READING: 1 Chronicles 29; 2 Chronicles 1-3
