READING: 2 Chronicles 30-33
The people of God celebrated the Passover with tremendous fanfare. They sacrificed and gave thanks to the Lord with great joy. In fact, they had not seen anything quite like it since the days of Solomon. Then, the priests stood to bless the people . . . and something quite magnificent and mysterious happened: “God heard them” (2 Chron 30:27).
The eternal One heard them.
The God who spoke creation into existence heard them.
The One who moves the wind and sends the rain heard them.
The God who raises up kings and tears down kingdoms heard them.
The One who reigns over all heard them.
The omnipresent, all-powerful, all-knowing God heard them.
Indeed, the prayers of God’s people “came into his holy dwelling place in heaven” (2 Chron 30:27). They still do, by the way. God still hears us when we pray.
Be amazed. Be grateful. Be prayerful.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: How amazed are you that God hears you when you pray?
DAILY PRAYER: “Lord, I stand amazed at You and Your grace today.”
