08/01/23 Be Our Strength

READING: Isaiah 31-36

Scholars believe the prayer of Isaiah 33:2 was the cry of God’s people as the Assyrian army stood at the gate: “Lord, be gracious to us! We wait for you. Be our strength every morning and our salvation in time of trouble.” The people knew they were dependent on the Lord, and they pleaded with Him for His presence and His grace. No nation could save them, but God could. And, because God’s people prayed, He would be their deliverer.

It’s a simple application of this text this morning, but here is my simple prayer following the lead of the prophet Isaiah:

“God, I long for You more than anything.

I need Your grace.

I need Your strength.

I need Your salvation.

I need You.

Every single morning, I need You.

Amen.”

PERSONAL REFLECTION: Would you join me in this prayer today?

PRAYER: “God, I really do need You.”

TOMORROW’S READING:  Isaiah 37-40
