READING: Jeremiah 48-50
Sometimes as I read through the Word, I’m amazed by what catches my attention—and sometimes I’m amazed by what I missed in the past. Today is one of those latter days. I’m sure I’ve seen these texts before, but they give me great pause today. The text? God’s promise of restoration to His people in Jeremiah 50:18-20.
God would judge Israel’s oppressors, and He would ultimately bring His people back to the land He promised them. There, “one will search for Israel’s iniquity, but there will be none, and for Judah’s sins, but they will not be found” (Jer 50:20). Israel certainly had sinned in blatant rebellion against God, but here’s what God nevertheless said: “I will forgive those I leave as a remnant” (Jer 50:20).
In the end, God forgives His people. And, when He forgives, He completely forgives. No one can find our sin, for He throws it behind His back (Isa 38:17) and remembers it no more (Jer 31:34). That’s awesome!
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Are you grateful for the Lord’s forgiveness today?
PRAYER: “Lord, I praise You for Your grace.”
