09/22/23 In His Time

READING: Daniel 9-11

I sometimes get impatient when God seems to be taking His time in responding to my prayers. I know I should just trust Him, yet still I get in a hurry.

But, then I read a verse like Daniel 10:12-13 – “’Don’t be afraid, Daniel,’ he said to me, ‘for from the first day that you purposed to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your prayers were heard. I have come because of your prayers.  But the prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me for twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me after I had been left there with the kings of Persia.” Daniel had prayed for wisdom and understanding after seeing a vision, but an angelic/demonic conflict behind the scenes had delayed God’s response for 21 days. God answered Daniel’s prayer, but His timing was likely different than Daniel’s preferred timeline.

The bottom line is this: God’s calendar and clock may not match mine, but I still must trust Him nevertheless. He knows the whole story—including the reality of battles in the heavens beyond our comprehension—and His timing is always right. I can trust Him today because He’s in charge of today and tomorrow.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: Are you trusting God fully with long-term prayers?

PRAYER: “Father, grant me faith to trust You at all times.”

MONDAY’S READING: Daniel 12, Hosea 1-5
