READING: 1 John 2-5, 2 John, 3 John
Our world is a chaotic one. Wars. Disasters. Prejudice. Immorality. Hatred. Idolatry. Lies. Theft. Rebellion. Division. Disease. Death. I could keep listing all the difficulties we face, and I trust you can, too. We don’t have to look far before it appears that the enemy is winning today.
He is not winning, however, nor will he ever. No matter how vicious his attacks are, how recurrently they happen, or how deeply they infect people, the enemy is still not in charge. No, the reality is much clearer: “Ye are of God, my little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Our victory is certain, as we know that the Spirit who lives within us is greater than Satan and all his forces. Those forces cannot—and will not—conquer God; they may create havoc, but they always remain under God’s thumb. God’s people, on the other hand, possess God’s Spirit, whom Satan cannot defeat.
If you’re a believer today, you’re living on the winning side. You have who you need for victory. Live like it this Christmas Day.
If you’re not a believer, I plead with you to turn from your wrong and trust Christ. You will not regret having God live in you.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Are you living today in victory or defeat?
PRAYER: “Father, thank You for Your Spirit, whose power is beyond my imagination.”
