——–
I have written other devotions about the woman bent double under the influence of an evil spirit in Luke 13. She had been that way for eighteen years—surely long years of discouragement and pain. My guess is that she had surely sought help, but no one had an answer.
Until Jesus showed up, that is.
When Jesus showed up, the evil spirit faced his demise in the woman’s life. With His few words directed to the woman (rather than to the spirit) and with the touch of His hands, Jesus freed the woman from her infirmity. In fact, her response was instantaneous: “she was restored and began to glorify God” (Luke 13:13). Eighteen long years came to an end and turned into a new beginning when the Healer came by.
This woman immediately glorified God when Jesus changed her life. You and I are right to do the same; we must glorify Him if we recognize how lost we were before knowing Jesus and how saved we are when the Son of God changes our lives.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Did you glorify God yesterday? What is your plan to do so today?
PRAYER: “God, I make a commitment to glorify You with my words and my actions today. ”
