07/04/24 Sounds of Worship

READING:

One-year plan: 2 Chronicles 29-31, Acts 8

Two-year plan: Joshua 3-4, Luke 6:17-36

———-

I love some of the pictures of worship in today’s reading. Hezekiah ordered that the Levites cleanse the temple, and the people then renewed worship and celebrated the Passover. Hear, though, the sounds of worship in this text:

  • “When the burnt offerings began, the song of the Lord and the trumpets began, accompanied by the instruments of King David of Israel.” (2 Chron 29:27)
  • “The whole assembly was worshiping, singing the song, and blowing the trumpets—all this continued until the burnt offering was completed.” (2 Chron 29:28)
  • “When the burnt offerings were completed, the king and all those present with him bowed down and worshiped.” (2 Chron 29:29)
  • “Then King Hezekiah and the officials told the Levites to sing praise to the Lord in the words of David and of the seer Asaph. So they sang praises with rejoicing and knelt low and worshiped.” (2 Chron 29:30)
  • “Then Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced over how God had prepared the people, for it had come about suddenly.” (2 Chron 29:36)

I pray this day is a day of singing and personal worship for you.
